Why would a Minnesota town gather to watch a giant pumpkin get dropped on a van?  Why not?!  That is just what happened in Lancaster, Minnesota where the town gathered to watch a 1,465 pound gourd get dropped for a cause.

KSTP-TV reports that the pumpkin drop also raised $360 for the Kittson County Literacy Council.  The lucky person that got to “push the button” to ultimately drop the pumpkin from the crane onto the van 80 feet below was decided by a drawing, and that honor went to  2-year-old Emmett Peterson.
