Virginia Native Chris Pratt’s 2020 Film Project Nominated For Oscar
A congratulations are in order for Chris Pratt - one of his films is officially an Oscar nominee!
It's no secret Chris Pratt is one of the most famous people to not only come out of Northern Minnesota but in the entire state! He is a huge television and movie star and it's awesome that he was born and raised here.
Now, we have even more bragging rights than usual because one of his most recent films is officially an Oscar nominee! The actor shared the exciting news on his Facebook page after the nominations came out just over a week ago. I didn't notice his post until I did some creeping.
He was part of the film Onward, which is a fun, animated movie that came out last year. Here's what he had to say about the nomination:
I’m so happy to be part of this Oscar nominated movie. Congratulations to the cast and crew of #PixarOnward for its #Oscars nomination for Best Animated Feature!
If you haven't seen the movie, you should! Chris voices the character of Barely Lightfoot. The film focuses on two brothers who go off on an adventure to spend time with their father. Of course, they encounter a bunch of humorous obstacles along the way.
I know exactly what I will be rooting for when the Academy Awards air later this year. You can see what films this one is up against with a full list of nominees here. In the meantime, we will have our fingers crossed that Chris brings this one home for Minnesota!
By the way, Chris was born and raised in Virginia until he was a toddler. He calls Los Angeles home now but we know he will always have a soft place in his heart for Minnesota. I mean, he was the most searched-for celebrity in our neck of the woods at one point, for what it is worth. Ha!
Chris isn't the only Minnesotan that has a connection to an Oscar-nominated film at this year's award ceremony. According to the Star Tribune, three other Minnesotans have been nominated in connection to this year's ceremony.
