The Bulldogs will face a familiar foe as they make their first appearance in the NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament for the first time since 2012. UMD will open the tournament as a #2 seed in the Northeastern Region against the third seeded Gophers of the University of Minnesota. The tournament game will be the fifth matchup between the Bulldogs and Gophers this season.

UMD holds a 3-1 record over the Gophers this season, losing in the first matchup of the season at the Ice Breaker Tournament in October and following with three wins over the U of M later in the season.

This year's trip to the tournament marks the 9th for the Bulldogs in team history, and is the second appearance since UMD won the national championship in 2011. The game between the Bulldogs and Gophers will be at 4:30 on Friday, March 27 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
