The NFL Draft begins Thursday night and the first couple of rounds are filled with excitement.  By Saturday, the third day of the draft, teams are looking for sleepers, athletes with potential from smaller schools and for roster depth.  To make sure there's some fan excitement in the later rounds, NFL teams will have special guests announce their picks from all over the world.

The Minnesota Vikings have chosen the U.S. Men's Olympic Curling Team to help announce their Saturday, April 28 picks live from the St. Paul Curling Club.  As much as I'd hoped they'd be in Duluth for the honor, it's still pretty cool.

According to NFL.com, other notable guests helping NFL teams Saturday include:

  • Miami Dolphins: The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Football Team will announce picks with the family of slain football coach Aaron Feis from the Dolphins Training Facility.
  • Kansas City Chiefs: Fort Riley child and youth service teams will announce selections from Fort Riley Military Base.
  • San Francisco 49ers: From LucasFilm, Ron Howard, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Stormtroopers will make picks along with the SFPals's 49ers prep flag football team.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A parrot, yes a real parrot, will deliver the team's selection to a pick announcer at the pirate ship in Raymond James Stadium.

There may not be a lot of memorable draft picks made on Saturday, but at least there will be additional entertainment factor.

Day 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft begins Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. CST.
