Two Road Projects to Impact Duluth Travel This Week

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced two separate projects that will impact traffic in the Duluth, the first of which begins Wednesday, March 3.

According to the MnDOT, beginning March 3 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m, maintenance crews will be conducting guardrail repair and sign installation on the I-535 northbound exit ramp to Garfield Avenue in Duluth. Motorists will be notified of the work by a detour sign, which will be in place during work hours. Motorists will be directed to continue on northbound I-535 to 21st Avenue West and back to southbound I-535. If necessary, work will resume on Thursday, March 4.

A second project will begin on Thursday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m., this one will impact southbound I-35 traffic, which will be briefly stopped just north of 27th Avenue West. The ramp from southbound Highway 53 to southbound I-35 and the ramp from westbound I-535 to southbound I-35 will also be temporarily closed. Closures will last approximately 10 to 15 minutes as crews install an overhead power line. Due to the prolonged stoppage of traffic, it may be best to find alternate routes in the area on Thursday.
