Two Road Closures Impacting Duluth Beginning July 8
Another week, another round of Northland road closures. The City of Duluth has announced that two separate projects will impact travel in Duluth beginning July 8.
According to The City, the following road projects are scheduled:
- Superior Street in-between Third Avenue East and Fourth Avenue East will be closed as a part of the Superior Street Reconstruction project. Third Avenue East and Superior Street will remain open until First Avenue East has reopened to vehicular traffic. Access to businesses and residences remain open. Phase II of the Superior Street Reconstruction Project is expected to be completed in October.
- The intersection of Piedmont Avenue and West First Street will close temporarily for approximately ten days. A contractor will make temporary improvements to the intersection to allow for wind turbine parts to be moved out of the Port of Duluth this summer and fall. The interim improvements will be in place from approximately July through October. During this time, driving lanes on First Street will be shifted to the north. No street closures after July 18th are expected.
If you normally travel through these areas, plan on alternate routes and, as always, drive safely through all work zones.
