A three block portion of West Michigan Street is getting a new look on Wednesday as the City of Duluth is planning to covert it from one-way travel to two-way.

According to the City, the change is designed to improve access and traffic circulation, directly connect people to area businesses and services and lessen confusion for motorists.

Michigan Street is already two-way on either end of the project area, so this will make for more consistent travel throughout the street.

Work will begin after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20 and the conversion is expected to be complete by the end of the day.

City crews will start at 21st Avenue West and work their way east.  They will close each block to through traffic during the conversion.  Off street parking will be available, but there will be no on-street parking available.

If you're traveling near the conversion, please drive with caution and be on the lookout for city workers.
