The two smaller ticks shown in the photo are the Lone Star ticks, because of the lone white spot on it's back.

According to the researchers at the University of Virginia, an allergic reaction can happen if saliva from the tick gets into your bloodstream.  The allergy is to MEAT!

And you won't know it right away either.  The allergic reaction can happen anywhere from three to six hours after you've eaten.  People have reported everything from hives to anaphylactic shock.  Since most people don't like the reaction, they stay away from meat, thus making them a vegetarian.

But, don't panic, most of the cases they've seen are along the East Coast.  Still, it's something to consider, if you've been in the area of Lone Star ticks and just can't figure out what you're allergic to.
