It used to be that the only place you'd find a food truck was at a county fair or festival, but that is no longer the case.

Experts say that food trucks experienced a notable surge in popularity, often referred to as the "food truck revolution," starting in 2008. Coincidentally, this was also during the Great Recession, when chefs and culinary enthusiasts sought affordable and flexible alternatives to brick-and-mortar restaurants.

Of course, social media also played a crucial role as people shared their food truck experiences, which allowed food truck vendors to efficiently promote their businesses and share locations with a wider audience.

In Minnesota, food trucks are very popular, with many operating regularly throughout the state and not just at fairs, festivals, and special events. You'll see them in business parking lots during peak times, downtown areas, and more.

With so many varieties of food trucks to choose from, a study was recently done to determine the best food truck in every state. It sounds like a deliciously daunting task, but it has been completed.

Minnesota's best food truck was determined to be Tru Pizza, the only wood-fired Neapolitan pizza truck in Minneapolis.

The team at LoveFoods notes that Tru Pizza successfully brings a taste of Italy to the streets of the Twin Cities.

Tru Pizza boasts on its website that it has "gone to great lengths to create pizza the same way they do in Italy, including traveling across the region to sample and learn from the real pizzaiolos."

That attention to detail is key, as is how the pizza is made. Tru Pizza uses dough made from a long-fermented 00 flour, designed for Neapolitan-style pizza, and ingredients are sourced from local, organic suppliers.

The pizza is then baked to perfection in a food truck that holds a 2,500-pound Neapolitan-style oven with 7-inch walls for refractory concrete and stone that cooks the pizza in 60 to 90 seconds at 800 to 1,000 degrees.

Customer reviews rave about the pizza truck, saying it consistently produces perfectly charred pies that are packed with flavor on top. The menu features a variety of Neapolitan pizzas and a focaccia. All orders are individual 12" pies.
