MN DNR

One week-end we're talking to the Co-Ho Salmon Anglers in Canal Park and the next week-end we see several of them have moved from casting to out-rigging.  Thanks to the mild winter and early spring, people have their fishing boats out much earlier than usual.  If you're taking your boat out for the first time this year, the  MN DNR provides a list to check for safety.

Um, not for me, but I know ALOT of people that dig hunting bear.  My friend Brenda in Esko is AWESOME at hunting bear and she uses a bow, NOT a rifle.  SCARY! If you are into bear hunting the DNR just opened their application process this week, you have until May 4 to apply. Is bear REALLY tasty?  What do you make, Bear Stir Fry?  Bear Cordon Bleu, Swedish Bearballs?

I have a friend that WILL NOT eat maple syrup, unless it was harvested fresh from trees in the Northland.  I use to think she was nuts, but after trying the fresh maple syrup, it's hard to go back to commercially processed syrup.  The taste is so much richer!  You never really think about WHERE Maple syrup comes from, until the weather could be detrimental to getting it fresh.  Here's what the MN

Even with the rain we've had yesterday and forecast for the next couple of days, we will be dealing with dry, fire fueling conditions this Spring  and Summer.  The MN DNR is taking steps to protect our environment, as best they can.

Hunting and fishing licenses in Minnesota could be increasing.  The DNR has proposed the increase because they are facing a budget shortage.  It would be the first increase since 2001, and it's been the longest time in between license increases in 40 years...
