Recently we were inspected for invasive species while putting our kayaks and my daughters Stand-Up Paddle Board (SUP) in Pike Lake. This had previously happened with our fishing boat, but was surprised to find that they also checked kayaks. Something caught our eye on the lake that raised the question of what they do and do not inspect.
There was quite the ruckus about the snarl of traffic in Canal Park today. It's the height of the tourist season and it seems that the Aerial Lift Bridge was down to one lane to be cleaned. Inspections of our Northland bridges have been going on all summer and now it's the Blatnik Bridge's turn this Saturday. We can expect some traffic delays, but with the Superior-bound closure in progress they are doing what they can to minimize traffic issues.
Our travel alert involves two of our local bridges, both being affected beginning next month. If you use either the Oliver or Blatnik bridge, this is a MUST READ.
