Black Friday is drawing near, which means you should really go shopping before the mayhem begins to load up on armor, cleats and fierce determination that will serve you well while you're scouring the shelves for the perfect toy at rock-bottom prices like a hunter searching for fresh food in a post-apocalyptic world where chaos reigns supreme.

Over the last few years, many businesses are opening on Thanksgiving evening.  It's a bit of a hot topic, as some are concerned that this forces employees to give up their holiday.  Some also worry that it takes away from time with their families.  But, people still do shop on Gray Thursday.  Will you be one of them?

Thanksgiving week is upon us and what better way to celebrate than by taking time to reflect on what we're thankful for, and then go out and shop until we drop.  Of course, the way Black Friday unfolds has changed over recent years and that includes right here in the Northland.

With the holidays coming up fast more and more people are out looking for that perfect gift.  Of course, the most perfect gift would one that you either same money on or you get a little spiff for yourself.  But, as the Duluth Police Department warns, there are scams out there waiting to take you off guard.  BE WARE!

Black Friday is fast becoming a term of the past.   Many stores have announced that they will be open Thanksgiving Day for shopping deals.   This doesn't sit right with me.  First off, this isn't the reason for the holiday season.   It shouldn't be about scrambling to get the best deals on material things.   The holidays should be about spending time with your family.

While a few lake effect snowflakes continue to fall in the later hours of Black Friday 2012, snowfall totals are coming in from around the area. The snow, which made travel very difficult through much of Minnesota and Wisconsin Thanksgiving and Black Friday definitely added up in some portions of the region.

As reported earlier, the possibility of winter weather threatening travel and activities for Thanksgiving and Black Friday in the Twin Ports was looming. The National Weather Service has now made it official.

While weather for travelers in Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin will be nice on Thanksgiving morning, wintry conditions will be making their way into the Twin Ports region  by Thursday night and Friday - making travel a little more difficult for holiday drivers and shoppers.
