Superior Still Needs Playground Monitors For Summer Program

The Summer Playground Program in Superior has started and organizers are still in need of individuals to help staff it.  The job listing is still available on the city's website and applications are being accepted.

As a Playground Monitor for the Summer Playground Program, you'll work 25 hours a week - Monday through Friday - 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  This seasonal position has already started and ends on August 16.  Pay is $10.78 to $11.03 hourly - depending on qualifications and availability.  The job would be perfect for a teen high school or college student or even an adult looking to pick up some extra hours.

So what does a Playground Monitor do?  The job listing on the website lists the following description for the job:

• Actively motivate program participants
• Effectively deal with stressful and emergency situations
• Hear and distinguish a variety of sounds such as those of participants in need of assistance in a noisy environment, fire alarms, and approaching vehicles or equipment which might pose a danger
• See program participants in need of assistance from near and far distances
• Speak loudly in order to warn program participants of impending danger
• Exercise authority to carry out the duties of the position

For some assignments, ability to:

• Receive cash and make change
• Administer first aid
• Perform a variety of tasks requiring physical strength such as moving boxes which weigh up to 35 pounds, assisting in moving children, and leading and playing games/sports.
