The Superior-Douglas County Family YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with an event that incorporates many of the main points of it's mission.  As part of the activities for that day, they're opening the doors to the general public and giving everyone the chance to have some active fun.

The Health Kids Day event will take place on Sunday, May 1 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

As part of the schedule of events, the Superior-Douglas County YMCA has planned all sorts of activities for the entire family.  If you go, you can count on activities that are not only fun, but ones that also exercise the mind and body at the same time.  An article in the Superior Telegram [paywall] provides details about some of the specifics that will be schedule for that day - including "Kubb, a petting zoo, a smoothie bike, a crane, face painting, Zumbini, carnival games, and more".

In addition to the special activities planned, attendees will also have access to the facilities at the YMCA. During the hours of the event, you will be able to use the "swimming pool, walking track, and gymnasium".

This years' Healthy Kids Day event marks a return to form for the Superior-Douglas County YMCA.  For the last two years, the organization has held altered versions.  Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator Hannah Bourgault explains:

"Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event to kick off summer and remind us all how important it is for kids to stay active and enjoy themselves throughout the summer.  We're so happy to be putting on this event in person after two years of it being virtual or non-existent."

The Superior-Douglas County YMCA is located at 9 N 21st Street in Superior, right at the corner of 21st Street and Hill Avenue.
