Super Bowl-Ready Vikings Now Have A 98% Chance To Win The NFC North Division
The Minnesota Vikings are hot off another win versus the Washington Commanders, beating them with a comeback win 20-17. They are on a roll, winning 6 in a row, and now have a record of 7-1 putting them well ahead, in first place of the NFC North.
FiveThirtyEight now predicts that the Vikings will finish the season with a record of 13-4. They put them at a 99% chance to make the playoffs, and even a whopping 98% chance to win the division.
What about going all the way to win the Super Bowl? The odds go down from there. FiveThirtyEight predicts they have a 7% chance of winning this season. That puts them behind the Eagles at 19%, the Buffalo Bills at 18%, Kansas City Chiefs at 17%, and the Cowboys at 12%.
Still, that's pretty good for Minnesota. This coming Sunday will be a real test for the Vikings when they play the Buffalo Bills with a record of 8-2.
The Vikings managed to win some close games in unique ways. Some sports commentators are calling the team a fraud, saying the Vikings have gotten lucky breaks along the way. For example, the unnecessary roughness call against the Commanders gave the Vikings a first down, letting them run the clock down and kick a field goal to win.
Still, teams that find close ways to win games are the kind of team that wins a Super Bowl. It's nice to see this squad play like a team under Kevin O'Connell.
