What we have as childhood memoirs sure can tell the era we were born.  For instance, I have a baby book with photos (not as many as my sister, because she was the first child).  My daughter has a baby book of photos, but I also had her birth videotaped by a friend, but that was unheard of in the early 90's and some people thought I was nuts.  Then came digital photography and some pictures were printed, most remained on CD's or stored on a computer.  The latest and greatest way to capture those once in a lifetime memories of having a child is with a Video Story.

Having a child isn't just about the birth.  There's the excitement, anticipation and planning prior to the birth.  During the birth while parents are working together to reach that miracle moment, just outside the door, there is incredible family emotion that they never get to see or experience.  After the birth there is so much going on that it truly is a blur.  The baby is taken from you to be cleaned up while mom is attended to, dad can't believe he just saw what he saw, nurses are coming and going, family members outside are asking if they can get inside because they heard the baby cry.  It is just a flurry of action.

I was so excited to learn of the Video Birth Story and I was bummed it wasn't around when my daughter Kylee was born. Melissa Compton, owner, videographer and photographer of Lucky 13 Studio went through the child birth experience and knew that documenting life for others was her passion.  She did not want to see another family miss a second of such an incredibly awe striking moment as the miracle of watching the little human being you created emerge into the world and that is why she and Lucky 13 exists today.  How cool is it to have a professional video that you can share with friends and family from out of town and almost immediately?

Each birth (like each child) is unique, Melissa knows that and works directly with you to know what you're comfortable with.  Maybe you don't know yourself.  That's where she can step in and expertly guide you and what your video will contain.  Ask questions and make determination as you find out more information.  Just like life, nothing is set in stone and Melissa will easily morph with your needs, desires and situations as they may change.

Here's some examples of what Lucky 13 Studio does.  I found myself tearing up at the wonder of birth, when I told Melissa that, she said "good, than I did my job".

*Jett arrived natural birth:

*Camden was a C-section birth:

Sadly, Camden's Grandma passed away a couple of months after his birth, Melissa took all the footage of Camden's birth with his *Grandma in it and made a separate video for Camden to cherish in years to come.

I really wish I would have thought of this years ago and done more of the aspects involved with having a child rather than focusing on "the birth", which I really can't show anyone because of the nature of the shot.  This won't be a passing fad, this will be the way of the future and will make sharing those special moments with friends and family no matter where they are in the world, so much easier!

*I'd like to thank the families that allowed their videos to be shown in my blog. Thank you for sharing your joy and emotion.  To Camden's family, my deepest sympathy.
