Since the store closed in 2019, many have speculated what would end up moving into the former Shopko location in Duluth.  After all, it's location on Central Entrance represents a prime piece of real estate.  Now it appears we have our answer.

According to details released by Business North, Furniture Mart USA has bought the building and the surrounding land: "Furniture Mart USA paid $3 million for the building and 6.7 acres".  The move ends the rumor mill that has been circulating about potential tenants and buyers.

A Halloween-based holiday store (Spirit Halloween) occupied the site for a few months near the end of last summer (2020) and through the fall season.  That store proved to be temporary only, closing after the Halloween holiday was finished.

While the store might be new to the Twin Ports, Furniture Mart USA has created a sizeable footprint of locations throughout the Midwest.   Details gleaned from both their website and from the article in Business North show more than 40 locations - which specialize in "pre-designed looks" in a variety of budget price points, but their website also says that they offer "customizable lines for the same price".  Their product lines shows that they offer indoor furniture along with options for outdoor living as well.  They also tout the fact that their prices are very competitive - offering a "110% Best Price Promise".
