Second Of 3 Minnesota I-35W Northbound Weekend Closures Begins June 2
The Minnesota Department of Transportation recently announced the first of three weekend closures of northbound I-35W between I-35E in Burnsville and I-494 in Bloomington to allow crews to resurface the roadway and make other improvements.
That first closure ended on May 22 and now the second weekend closure is set to begin in that area so crews can continue resurfacing the road and improving ramps, sidewalks, and signals at several intersections.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin the second weekend closure beginning Friday, June 2. Northbound I-35W will be closed beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Friday and will remain closed until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5.
MnDOT says all northbound ramps between I-35E and 82nd Street, and the southbound I-35W E-ZPass lane between 82nd Street and 94th Street will also be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured to I-35E to Highway 77 to I-494. Local access to northbound I-35W will remain open at 82nd Street via Lyndale Avenue.
After the weekend closure, the following ramps and lanes will remain closed through mid-June:
- The right acceleration/deceleration lane is closed on northbound I-35W between 106th Street and 98th Street. The detour is I-35E to Highway 77 to I-494
