Scheduled Duluth Airshow Performer Suffers Fatal Accident at Michigan Air Show
Tragedy struck over the 4th Of July weekend as a popular air show performer, who was scheduled to appear later this month at the Duluth Airshow, suffered a fatal accident at a Michigan air show.
Shockwave Jet Truck & Flash Fire Jet Trucks are well known to those who attend air shows across the country. This weekend, tragedy struck in Michigan and two lives were lost.
The Shockwave Jet Truck & Flash Fire Jet Trucks official Facebook page first broke the stunning news:
During today’s SHOCKWAVE Jet Truck performance at the Battlecreek Field of Flight Airshow an accident occurred as a result of a mechanical failure on the Jet Truck. Regretfully Chris Darnell the driver and my youngest son passed away from his injuries at approximately 1:01 pm.
No one else was involved.

Shortly after the tragedy took place, news coverage and related videos started to emerge throughout social media.
The Duluth Airshow reacted to the tragedy on their official Facebook page, stating "Today the airshow community mourns a friend, colleague, and beloved performer. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Darnell Family today and in the days ahead as they navigate this tragic loss."
The Duluth Airshow is scheduled for July 16 and July 17 and while there is once again an impressive lineup of performers, including the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, there will also be sadness in the air in the wake of this tragedy.
