Minnesota Law Enforcment Creates ‘Safe Internet Purchase Exchange Area’
This last summer I was searching through a grocery store parking lot for a guy from Facebook marketplace selling something I wanted. It was just getting dark and I remember thinking this is a little sketchy.
That's the problem with buying things online. Either you have to agree upon a safe meeting place, invite them over to your house, or go to their house. None of these are 100% ideal.

For years people have suggested meeting up in a well light public building. Sometimes people choose the police department's parking lot. I mean, who would try something illegal with all the police around?
Safe Internet Purchase Exchange Area
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office has created a "safe internet purchase exchange area." It's located at their Public Safety Building at 2030 N Arlington Avenue in Duluth.
Not only is this area right in front of the local law enforcement offices, but it also has its own dedicated video surveillance.
You can find the spaces right in the main lot to the right of the law enforcement statues.
People love the idea, and the page has been flooded with positive comments. Some share their stories of being scammed on Marketplace and how this could prevent that.
Video Surveillance Keeps Everyone Honest
One man shared how this could prevent unfounded accusations too. The video surveillance keeps everyone honest, and you don't have to worry about someone knowing where you live.
Once again, this safe meeting place is the St. Louis County Public Safety Building, 2030 N Arlington Avenue, Duluth, Minnesota.
