It's something that has been a source of frustration several times this summer.  My husband and I would keep forgetting part of the Bong Bridge was closed and drive in that direction only to have to turn around (we eventually started laughing at ourselves, DUH!).  But tomorrow that frustration is over as the Bong Bridge is scheduled to re-open!

It's the Duluth-bound lanes of the Richard I. Bong Bridge that have been closed for a summer of construction.  According to WDIO.com, the WisDOT say the Superior-bound traffic will continue to see single lane closures for a few more weeks.

What can we expect next?  The Superior-bound lanes will have a turn and will be closed next year.  As part of the project, WisDOT has been converting the intersection of Belknap Street and the bridge approach into a roundabout.   Although the roundabout is not done,  WisDOT said motorists can expect to be sent through about half of it for now.

Mark your calendars, construction on the Superior-bound lanes is scheduled to begin next May, when eastbound traffic will be detoured to the Blatnik Bridge.
