Reba McEntire is back in the studio with ace producer Buddy Cannon, and the country superstar says her new music might just be truer to the country format than anything she's ever released before. At a recent press event, McEntire told The Boot and other outlets that she can't wait for fans to hear the new music.

"I'm really excited about being back in the studio with Buddy Cannon on the new project," she explains. "It's gonna be probably the most country album I've ever recorded."

While a release date has not yet been set for the new songs, McEntire goes on to say that a substantial portion of the album has been cut. "We have 13 songs already recorded," the country superstar says. "And we'll do some more if we find 'em."

The search for new additions to the project may continue for a while: McEntire admits that it's difficult for her to turn down the chance to hear new songs that she might potentially want to cut.

"I can't say no," she goes on to say. "Because when they say, 'Hey, I've got a song you oughta listen to ...', it doesn't take that long to listen to it, and you never know what you're gonna get -- where it comes from, you never know."

McEntire's most recent project was a gospel album, 2017's Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope. However, it seems as though, for her next effort, the singer will be getting back to the basics of her career as a country star, and having plenty of fun along the way.

"[I'm] loving it!" she adds, speaking of the process of recording the new music. "It's just real country."
