Play Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego on Google Earth Now!
One of my favorite computer games as a kid was Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?.
I have mostly faint memories about playing it. For one, I think we may have gotten the CD-ROM from a cereal box (those were the best days!). For another, I didn't realize until years later that Carmen was a villain; I never did understand why I was chasing her. Another memory I have is just the pure frustration of the game; in retrospect, I was too young to understand the rhymes and alliterations that would lead me to the next clue or location, and my limited understanding of world geography led me round in perpetual circles around the globe. I never did apprehend Carmen Sandiego or beat a single game.
Still, I loved Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and have remembered the game often as I've gotten older.
Well, as they say, trends always come back around, and Carmen Sandiego is back with another deplorable caper to stop!
Google for Education has teamed up with Google Earth for a fun, educational, more-detailed-than-ever adventure around the globe!
The first in a new series, according to Red Tricycle, this adventure starts in London where Carmen Sandiego has stolen the Crown Jewels. Globe-trotting sleuths must follow the clues around the world to recover the loot.
I played myself yesterday; total game time was no more than 20 minutes. Whether you played Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? as a kid or not, you'll love globe-trotting around Google Maps as you try to capture Carmen Sandiego during your lunch break or after work! You can play it here!
