Park Point Water Safety Expo + Sand Modeling Contest July 19

The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Annual Park Point Sand Modeling Contest/Summer Beach Bash and Water Safety Expo is scheduled for Thursday, July 19.

This free public event will be held at the Park Point Beach House, at the end of Park Point, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Bring kids of all ages to enjoy the sand modeling contest, a variety of games, live DJ music, and several demonstrations on safety topics such as throw rings, life jackets, weather safety and rip currents.

The sand modeling will start at 10:00 a.m., with judging to being at 1:00 p.m.  Prizes will be awarded to all winners.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their own beach blankets, sand modeling supplies and sunscreen.

This event is organized by the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation, The Duluth Area Family YMCA, and Minnesota Sea Grant.

One of my first jobs was as a Youth Recreation Leader for the City of Duluth and this event was always a highlight of the summer for the kids.
