I don't want to jinx anything here but it looks like winter might actually be behind us! Of course, this is true only if you believe the Old Farmer's Almanac and their weather predictions.

The Old Farmer's Almanac Weighs In

Some people don't believe in the methodology of the Old Farmer's Almanac so you have to take it all with a grain of salt! They make long-term weather predictions by region. Our region includes Minnesota and Wisconsin.

They are pretty tight-lipped about how they make these predictions. Sometimes they are right on the mark and other times they are off! Just take this for what it is and see what unfolds.

Old Farmer's Almanac May Forecast

Breathe a sigh of relief! The Old Farmer's Almanac has unveiled the May forecast for the Duluth and Superior area and the 'S' word is nowhere in sight. It looks like winter might be behind us.

That's not to say that we won't see any precipitation. There are plenty of periods of rain throughout the region in May but temperatures won't drop enough for any snow. This is great news, in my opinion. Ha!

Here's a breakdown of what we can expect in the Northland throughout the month of May, courtesy of the Old Farmer's Almanac:

  • Showers with gloomy skies for the first few days of the month
  • Sunshine returns on May 5th and lasts through the 9th
  • From the 10th onward, we will see periods of rain and cooler temperatures

I personally love rain and we definitely need it so there are no complaints from me! Plus, we can't be mad when there's no snow in the forecast.

We definitely got off easy this winter. I just hope that doesn't mean a brutal comeback winter later this year!

11 of the Most Devastating Weather Disasters in Minnesota Throughout The Years

We might be full of lakes and "nice" but Minnesota has had its fair share of horrible and nasty weather. Throughout the years we've had floods, fires, storms that have crushed stadium roofs flat, and tornadoes that have destroyed lives.

11 Activities To Do When The Weather Is Too Hot Outside

It doesn't happen often in the Northland, but heatwaves do occur and sometimes it's just too hot to be outside in the elements. When that happens, there are still plenty of things you can do to have fun or even be productive.

Give these a try during a heatwave.
