We've needed a new dining room set for some time now.  We had a decent table, but mismatched chairs, and it didn't really match any of the other furniture we had.  So we went looking around at furniture stores.  I couldn't believe how much money they charged for particle board, crappy furniture.  It was well over $1,000 dollars.

Around the same time, my 81 year old Grandpa began doing some woodworking again.  Wanting to pick up on some of his knowledge, I asked if we could build me a dining room set.

Now when I say we, I use that pretty loosely.   I came down a couple of days and helped put the table top and legs together.  Which was pretty cool to learn, and it took some patience.

Here's a few pictures of us doing the table.

And we put our names on the bottom, too.

From their he basically hand built the ladder back style chairs.  My mom and I upholstered them using some fabric and foam.

And the final product looks and works great.  Plus it's significantly cheaper and better quality.
