This definitely isn't a list you want to be on but no city is fully free from crime, especially larger cities with bigger populations. Now, the 25 most dangerous cities in the country have been revealed.

U.S. News & World Report always releases a list of the most dangerous cities in the country for the year ahead. I hadn't looked yet this year so I decided to look at their list for 2026 - 2027.

To put this list together, they looked at every city's murder rate and property crime rate per 100,000 people. They used FBI crime reports to get these rates.

Why put this list together? Because crime is a big factor in where people decide to move or stay in many cases. Sadly, Minnesota made the list.

U.S. News & World Report Names Minneapolis One Of Most Dangerous Cities

Minneapolis made the list last year so it's not a huge surprise it made the cut yet again this year. Minneapolis rounds out the top twenty list, making it one of the most dangerous cities in the country.

Minneapolis definitely has its fair share of crime so it is not a surprise at all that it made the list yet again this year. No other Minnesota city made the top 25 list so at least that is some good news, right?

The Most Dangerous City In America? It's In Tennessee

Memphis has been named the most dangerous city in America thanks to its murder and property rates. It does have a reputation for being dangerous so I wasn't surprised to see it at the top of the list.

Oakland, California came in at number two while St. Louis rounded out the top three. A bunch of Louisiana cities also made the top 25. It's always good to be aware, especially if you are traveling or visiting a specific area.
