MNDOT Plans Virtual Meeting For Upcoming Cromwell-Highway 73 + 210 Project

A project to make improvements to the intersection of Highway 73 and Highway 210 in Cromwell will get a public meeting on Thursday, February 11 starting at 6:00 PM.  As has been the case since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the meeting will happen virtually.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the improvements being made at the intersection in Cromwell will happen in two stages; work crews will first construct a detour and then finally the work to the intersection will occur at a later stage.  The first stage of this work - for the detour - starts in August 2021, with the actual project scheduled to begin in May 2022.

A project punch-list for the work details what MNDOT work crews will accomplish when they reconstruct the existing highway:

• Twelve-foot driving lanes and 10-foot parking lanes will be maintained on Highway 210 from Highway 73 to Burnett Road.
• New storm sewer and curb and gutter to collect and convey storm water runoff.
• New sidewalk along Highway 210 and along the west side of Highway 73 adjacent to the Cromwell High School.
• New lighting along Highway 210.
• Possible temporary easements and permanent right-of-way on Highway 210 south of the Highway 73 intersection is anticipated.

Cost for the entire scope of the project is expected to be $2 million.

In order to keep Highway 210 open throughout construction, there will be a detour of Highway 73 in place.  Signs will be posted when the detour begins. There is a detailed map available on MNDOT's website.
