Miranda Lambert is working on new music, and the uninhibited spirit of her onstage performance at the 2019 ACM Awards is a sign of things to come. Ahead of the annual awards show on Sunday night (April 7), Lambert shared that she's "taking some risks and not being afraid" with this new batch of songs.

"I’m going into fearless mode, musically and heart wise. I feel like they go hand-in-hand," Lambert tells the Tennessean. "I’m jumping out there and taking risks, and I feel good about it. I’m going in, and we’re making it, and we’re putting it out as fast as we can.”

Lambert's medley at the 2019 ACM Awards showcased the hits that have earned her more ACM trophies than any other single artist: “Kerosene,” “Gunpowder and Lead” and “Mama’s Broken Heart" were all there, as were “White Liar” and “Little Red Wagon." The country star admits that her success has been an uphill battle.

“I am a female artist in this genre that has fought my way," Lambert says, "and this medley is a reminder of the last 14 years of music. It’s 14 years of milestones and songs that pushed me to a new level in business. People have to remember a hit isn’t a position on a chart, it’s what people sing along to.”

Lambert's fearlessness isn't limited to her career, either: The singer recently celebrated a secret wedding to Brendan McLoughlin, who joined her on the red carpet at the ACMs on Sunday night.

Lambert says she hopes to have new music to her fans this summer. This fall, she'll hit the road for another round of her all-female Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour.
