Minnesota Wild Trade For Arizona Coyotes Center Martin Hanzal

The Minnesota Wild are looking to win now, and that is evident by them trading for Phoenix Coyotes forwards Martin Hanzal and Ryan White.In exchange for draft picks and Grayson Downing, the Minnesota Wild are receiving forwards Martin Hanzal and Ryan White and a draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes. Minnesota also receives a 2017 fourth-round pick in the deal.

Hanzal is the key part of this deal, having 16 goals and 10 assists this season with the struggling Coyotes. The Czech Republic native stands 6'6 tall and is ranked in the top ten in faceoff win percentage for active NHL players. Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher was quoted talking about Hanzal's game, "He's an extremely tough player to play against. I know if you speak to any of our players having to play against Arizona over the last few years, he's a big, strong centerman, he plays a heavy game, he makes you earn every inch of the ice when you play against him,"

White is coming to Minnesota after spending time with Montreal, Philadelphia and Arizona. The 28-year-old Canadian forward has 13 points this season and is know as a "junkyard dog" according to Hockey operations advisor Andrew Brunette.

In return, Arizona is receiving a first round draft pick from 2017, a second round pick for 2018, and a conditional draft pick in 2019. The 2019 draft pick is determined by how far the Minnesota Wild go in the playoffs this season. If the Wild don't get beyond the first round, that 2019 pick will be a fourth-rounder. If the Wild advance to the second round, it becomes a third-round selection. If the Wild make the Western Conference Championship, that 2019 draft pick will be in the second-round.
