Minnesota Man Charged With Murder Following Wife’s ‘Death Party’
A 58 year old man from Searles, MN has been charged with murder after his wife died during a days-long 'death party'.
Duane Arden Johnson, was also charged with criminal neglect and receiving stolen property after his wife, Debra Lynn Johnson (69) was found dead at their home back in January.
According to Inforum, when the police arrived in the very small town of Searles (population of 171), Duane ran outside naked to tell them his wife is dead. Just when you thought the encounter couldn't get more interesting, he then went back inside to take a bath so he could wash little white and black things coming from his skin. According to the police, there were no black and white things on his skin.
Duane told police he had taken his wife out of her nursing home at her request (against medical advice) so she could have a 'death party'. He also said they spent her final days listening to rock music (including their favorite Quiet Riot's Mental Health) and taking methamphetamine.
According to the criminal complaint, the words "Death Parde God Hell" had been spray painted in the color red on the front door. Once inside, police found Debra's body wrapped in a grey sheet tied with a belt at the top of a narrow stairwell.
Duane told investigators that his wife died sometime around 8:30 am that day, but he waited until noon to call 911 because he wanted to make sure she was dead. He also said "I prepared the dead like the Bible told me to do".
The third-degree unintentional murder charge against Johnson was added by the Brown County Attorney this past Monday after an autopsy showed that his wife had died from a meth overdose.
A search of their home also revealed numerous guns, rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Johnson claimed he had 47 guns, but many of them were stolen.
