They haven't even broken ground yet on the new Minnesota Vikings stadium, but it is already close to hosting the Super Bowl in 2018.

StarTribune.com is reporting the Minneapolis is one of three finalists to land Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, 2018.  New Orleans and Indianapolis are the others.

The last time Minneapolis hosted the Super Bowl was 1992 in the Metrodome.  This would be a huge economic boost to the state in a state of the art facility that will still have that new stadium smell.

The NFL is expected to make a decision in May of 2014.
