Mike’s Classic Margarita VS Bud Light Lime-A-Rita
Yesterday, after a long day of working outside in the sun, I had a thirst for a margarita. However, I honestly didn't feel like buying a bottle of tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and whatever else you need for a good margarita. At the liquor store, I went to grab a Bud Light Lime-a-rita. Just one, as they are loaded with calories. But then I noticed to the left was a 6 pack of Mike's Classic Margarita bottles. Hmmm....
I thought I'd give it a try, and see what the difference was. Here's the facts:
Mike's Classic - 12 ounce bottle has 235 calories. Not terrible for a margarita like malt beverage. Margaritas are generally a pretty high calorie cocktail.
Bud Light Lime-A-Rita - 8 oz can has 220 calories. So not too much difference, but per ounce it has more calories than Mike's.
Mike's Classic Margarita is about 8.99 for a 6 pack. Which is comparable to 10.99 or so for a 12 pack of small Bud Light Lime-A-Rita cans.
When it comes to taste, there really isn't a whole lot of difference. Both are sweet and taste a lot like a margarita. The Lime-A-Rita packs more of a punch with an 8% alcohol content. Classic Mike's is just over 5%.
I did notice that in comparison, Classic Mike's poured into a glass over ice looks clearer, and the Lime-A-Rita's are a little cloudier.
The one thing I do like about Mikes is that it does come in a 12 ounce bottle. I haven't been fond of the 8 oz cans of the lime-a-rita. I feel like Andre The Giant when I drink those tiny cans.
So in summary, it's really a draw and comes down to if you prefer a bottle or a can. Each will be refreshing on a summer day, just be careful with those little lime-a-rita cans because they can sneak up on you.
