Map Shows DWI Arrests Over Memorial Day Weekend In Minnesota
We have now officially started the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roads. Summer driving months actually see more accidents, DWIs, and fatal crashes than any other time of year. To help combat this, Minnesota law enforcement has been doing extra DWI enforcement campaigns.
Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kick-off to summer in Minnesota. There are gatherings, parties, and celebrations that warmer weather is finally here. That can also lead to bad decisions, like getting behind the wheel after drinking.
According to WDIO, there were 407 DWIs from 6 pm on May 24th to 6 am on May 26th, 2025. There were also 272 property damage crashes, 51 injury crashes, and one person lost their life in a fatal crash.
Believe it or not, this is down from the 437 DWIs that occurred during last year's Memorial Day Weekend.

DWI Dashboard Map
You can track the arrests, where they happened, and other information on the DWI Dashboard. It's operated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and contains data and tools to analyze trends.
The dashboard maps about 95% of the DWI arrests with information on the age of the driver, gender, blood alcohol level, time of arrest, location, and prior DWI arrests.
Most of the arrests are late at night or in the early morning hours, suggesting someone was driving home after out drinking. Plan a sober ride, use ride-share services, or use public transportation to keep the roads safe.

The Duluth Police Department also shared a message about drunk driving after a wrong-way drunk driver caused a crash.
