We all knew it was coming eventually but this still stings a little. It looks like our first winter storm of the season is happening next week.

This is according to Midwest Weather. According to their forecast, a winter storm will hit Minnesota and Wisconsin starting on Tuesday (November 19th).

At the time of writing, the storm is expected to last through the rest of the work week, with the system wrapping up and moving out on Friday.

Don't cry just yet because there are two different scenarios that could happen when the first snowflake falls.

Per this forecast, there are two different things that could happen when this system moves in early next week. However, there is one thing that is certain no matter which scenario plays out:

There's increasing potential for heavy snowfall with both scenarios and no matter the scenario, backside snow should bring snowflakes to a large portion of the region.

Just how much snow we are looking at will become clearer but we have yet to get our first accumulating snowfall of the season in the Northland and it looks like this storm will be the one to bring it to us.

But that's not all...

Because misery loves company, we will also see a major drop in temperatures with this system. These cooler temperatures are expected to stick around for the rest of the month.

Basically, if this system keeps the trajectory it's currently on, we can expect winter to be here early next week and stick around! We have been spoiled, after all.
