May Snowstorm Sets A New Weather Record For The Month
Winter sure is persistent.
Just when you think we are in the clear from seeing snow until the end of the year, Mother Nature surprises us with more.
Duluthians and Northland residents alike woke up to quite the surprise Wednesday (May 8th) into Thursday: heavy and wet snow.
It wasn't just a dusting either! In fact, in parts of Duluth, we saw about 11 inches. This snowfall went on to make it the snowiest May on record.
Meteorologist Taylor Dayton shared this news on his Facebook page Friday afternoon (May 10th). Check out what he had to say below:
This isn't the first record we've broken this year. We also saw the snowiest February in Duluth history just a few short months ago.
The good news is it looks like it never snowed at all. The snow is melted and hopefully gone for good. However, I won't hold my breath.
