It's your right - and your ballot - make it count.  As the City of Superior gets ready for the general election that's coming up on Tuesday, November 8, they're alerting the public about important upcoming dates; these dates are especially important for people planning to vote by absentee ballot.

The State of Wisconsin allows for an absentee ballot for any voter who applies for one. However, the requester needs to be registered to vote.  You can do both of those things online.  The City of Superior provides a link on their webpage, or you can go directly to myvote.wi.gov and take care of things there directly.

If you are planning to vote by absentee ballot, there are some important dates you need to keep in mind.  There are a number of reasons behind them, but they primarily all come down to a matter of time - i.e. it takes a certain amount of time for the U.S. Postal Service to turn around mail delivery, it also takes time to get certain documents in place - like registration.

Here are the dates you need to know about if you are planning on voting by absentee ballot for the general election on Tuesday, November 8 in the City of Superior:

  • 10/19/22:  Last day to update voter registration info via U.S. Mail or online at myvote.wi.gov.
  • 11/3/22:  Last day for regular voters to request ballots
  • 11/4/22:  Last day to update voter registration info prior to election day
  • 11/8/22:  Last day to return absentee ballots to the Central Count site (at the Government Services Center/the City-County Complex)

The City of Superior is also reminding voters again about the unavailability of drop boxes.  While the city was utilizing a drop box in the circle drive behind the Government Services Building (the north side of the building) for a while during the pandemic, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court ruled that they did not have the authority to do that and that it went against state voting regulations.  Therefore, if you are hand-delivering your absentee ballot back you need to bring it to Suite 200 (inside the building) by election day.
