Local Authorities Educate Students With A Mock Crash Demonstration At PSS This Morning
I always say that "life experience" is such a great learning tool. Even though it's tough, I've always let my daughter make her own choices, knowing that if she made a bad decision, she would learn from it. However, when it comes to car accidents sometimes the outcome is irreversible, that's why I'm glad that our local authorities have developed a way to simulate a crash. With this mock crash, life experience is shown without having to actually experience the trauma.
This program will be different from any other traffic safety program you have seen in the past. You hear and see exactly what victims of a car crash would experience during and after the crash. It occurs in real time as it does in real situations. With distractions like cell phones now days we're seeing more inattentive driving and of course something that has been around for years, impaired driving. Today at 9:45 there will be a mock crash demonstration in the Denfeld School parking lot. Don't be surprised if you hear sirens and see flashing lights at the school and if the weather is good they may even have a helicopter land at Public School stadium, on the field.
Fatal traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for young people in Minnesota and in the United States. Students will witness what takes place in a serious injury and/or fatal traffic crash. Hopefully, this will help to prevent drunk driving, the need to put the cell phone away while driving and demonstrate the importance of wearing seat belts.
Thank you to our local authority agencies for bringing this important awareness to our kid's attentions, especially as prom and graduation is right around the corner!
