Sad news has arrived to everyone who loved Gannucci's Italian Market in Duluth. The business had been "temporarily closed", but on August 15 there was confirmation that Gannucci's would not be reopening when a full business liquidation auction was announced.

Nordic Auction announced on their Facebook page they would be hosting the full business liquidation and "everything must go". This huge auction includes a complete kitchen, all food stock, displays, coolers, dining room furniture and decor, and a lot more.

Looking over just some of the items here that will be a part of the auction, you can't help but mourn the loss of a Duluth staple, that was originally established in 1976 as Conito's Italian Village. It became Gannucci's Italian Market and Deli in 2011, with the name change made in order to honor the owner's great-grandfather Vito Gannucci.

Gannucci's was a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Not only could you find authentic, imported Italian products, but they had great food too, including pizza, spaghetti dinners, lasagna and hot and cold sandwiches.

Even Guy Fieri loved Gannucci's! His his positive review can still be found at

As a fan of Italian markets, Guy had to sample the homemade dishes at Gannucci’s. He can’t get enough of the “thick and dense” lasagna, made with ground Italian sausage and homemade marinara. For diners who love Italian cold cuts, Guy recommends the muffuletta with a “righteous” dipping sauce.
