If you're a writer, the Lake Superior Writers have announced the 2017 writing contest, and the theme this year is "Rivers: Mapped and Unmapped".  They are looking for entries focusing on rivers, either real or metaphorical.

According to the Lake Superior Writers, writers have written about rivers as a metaphor for time, history, lifeblood, and more.  Now it's time for you to write about a river that inspires your creativity.

Contest  categories include: Poetry (up to three poems), Short-Short Fiction (500 words, up to two stories), Short Story (1,500-5,000 words, up to two stories), and Creative Non-Fiction (1,500-5,000 words, up to two pieces).

The entry deadline is April 1, 2017 and entry submission is free.

One winner in each category will receive a prize of $250 and publication on the Lake Superior Writers website.
