Kenny Chesney Postpones May Show At U.S. Bank Stadium
UPDATE: this show has been postponed until 2022.
Kenny Chesney will no longer be coming to Minnesota in May. He has postponed several tour stops on his 2020 Chillaxification Tour, including his May 2nd tour stop at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The news was announced Thursday (March 12th) afternoon on the country star's website, citing concern over the COVID-19 coronavirus:
In times of uncertainty, I won’t take chances with those I love. I can’t imagine, as much as we love being out there playing for the fans, being able to do that through the worry our nation is experiencing.
So, while we wait to see how this terrible virus is going to impact our country, I think it’s only fair to move these first several dates now. We are figuring some of this out as we go, but I know people buy airline tickets, book hotel rooms – and I wanted to try to give everyone as much time to sort that out as possible.
At the time of the announcement, seven stadium shows and four amphitheater shows have been postponed. The tour will now kick off on May 30th in Pittsburgh.
As of right now, there is no new date scheduled for his show in Minnesota. According to his statement, his team is working on finding alternate dates for the postponed shows and hopes to have everything in place within six weeks. He also assures fans those unable to attend the shows at their new dates will be refunded. We will keep you updated on new information regarding his U.S. Bank show.
This announcement comes just minutes after Dan + Shay announced they were postponing their arena tour, including a stop at the Target Center in April.
