Watch Out For Travel Scams Targeting Minnesota Drivers
The Fourth of July may have passed, but vacation season is still in full effect. The interstates and highways will continue to be heavy with traffic for the next month and a half or so. These heavy travel months bring their own particular challenges: accidents, mechanical issues, and of course traffic enforcement.

What I mean by traffic enforcement is having to obey the speed limit, wearing your seat belt etc. With the increased amount of traffic on the roads, we should consider getting where we’re going safely a major win.
The Scammers Are At It Again
There is one more thing that motorists in Minnesota have to worry about traveling around the holiday and vacation season; scammers sending fake EZPass messages to people in an effort to steal their money.
The messages that are being sent out contain what is called a direct link for people to click on to send their money to satisfy the supposed debt that is owed.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that they will never send residents a text message or email asking for money or personal information. If you get one of these messages, you should delete it. Do not create an account off of the link that is sent.
If you get an email, you should treat it just like a text. Delete the correspondence and do not click on anything in the email.
If you have questions about your account with EZPass, contact them directly. You can also contact the Minnesota Department of Transportation as well.
