How Many Cookies Does Sweet Martha Sell at the Minnesota State Fair?

The Minnesota State Fair was just named the best state fair in America by People Magazine. Around 2 million people will attend the 12-day event, August 21 through Labor Day, to enjoy the exhibits, attractions, rides, and music, but the main draw is the food.

It’s fun to sample all of the new foods at the ‘Great Minnesota Get Together,’ but I have to get two classics every time I go. I’ll always have a pronto pup for lunch, followed by a bucket of delicious chocolate chip cookies from Sweet Martha’s Cookie Jar.

Sweet Martha’s Insane Cookie Sales at the Minnesota State Fair

If you’re planning a day at the fair, pack an appetite because there are more than 500 different foods to try, with lots of them served on a stick. However, the most popular fair food each year isn’t on a stick; it’s in a bucket.

Did you know Sweet Martha originally didn’t plan to sell cookies at the State Fair? Her first idea was to offer frozen yogurt, but when fair organizers turned it down, she switched to cookies instead, and that turned out to be a brilliant decision.

Today, Sweet Martha’s Cookie Jar is the most famous and highest-earning food vendor at the Minnesota State Fair. She sells 3 million cookies every single day during the fair, which adds up to an unbelievable 36 million cookies over its 12-day run. That’s wild!
