Extra Law Enforcement Looking For Speeders on Three Minnesota Highways
Nothing ruins a family road-trip quicker than a speeding ticket. Keep a close eye on your speedometer when you hit the road this summer because law enforcement is cracking down on speeding.
Nearly 300 law enforcement agencies statewide are teaming up for a massive campaign on speeding with extra patrols on three popular Minnesota highways through Sept. 2nd.

Officials call the stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day the "100 Deadliest Days" on the road. While many drivers blame winter ice for Minnesota's worst crashes, state traffic safety directors point out that clear summer roads actually tempt people to push the limits.
Last year alone, speed-related crashes claimed 102 lives in the state, and roughly 65 percent of those fatal wrecks involved someone going just 10 mph over the limit.
Extra Law Enforcement Looking For Speeders on These Minnesota Highways
Because of those numbers, state troopers, county deputies, and local police are heavily saturating three major Minnesota corridors.

Expect a heavy law enforcement presence if you are traveling on the three highways listed below.
- Highway 14 (stretching from the Minnesota/Wisconsin border at La Crosse to the South Dakota state line)
- Highway 19 (spanning from Red Wing to the South Dakota border)
- Highway 60 (running from just south of Worthington all the way to Wabasha).
A ticket for going 10 mph over will easily cost you $100 or more. Get caught going 20 mph over the limit and the fines double. Give yourself a few extra minutes and stay safe out there.
