8 Field Trips Every Southern Minnesota Kid Went on

Nobody wanted to be there on a normal Tuesday… but hand us a permission slip, a packed lunch, and a bus ride with our friends? Suddenly school was the greatest thing ever.

There was just something different about those field trip days growing up in southern Minnesota.

Honestly, half the fun wasn’t even the destination. It was fighting over who got to sit in the back of the bus, bringing way too much junk food, and hoping your teacher was in a good enough mood to let everybody be a little louder than usual for the day.

And if you grew up in southern Minnesota, there’s a really good chance you visited at least a few of these places. Some were educational. Some felt completely random looking back. But all of them somehow became core childhood memories for an entire generation of Minnesota kids.

I was actually talking with my sister the other day while she was chaperoning her kid’s field trip, and it made me laugh because they’re still taking some of the exact same trips we all did growing up. Different kids, same field trips, same chaotic bus energy.
