Just as word was hitting Minnesota about a brand new donut franchise coming to the state, a well-known bakery that got its start in the Land of 10,000 Lakes went dark.

The now-famous Parlor Doughnuts just announced its grand opening celebration for its new location in Rochester this week.  Sadly, about the same time excitement was growing for this new establishment, an iconic bakery that had several locations in the Twin Cities area closed its final storefront.

After 80 Years, Iconic Bakery Has Closed All Of Its Minnesota Locations

There is nothing better than a local bakery and one of the best for many years was the Wuollet Bakery.  1944 was when this bakery first started selling its popular items to the public but back then, it was with the name "Olson's Bakery".  The name change happened in 1991 and at its peak, it had a total of 6 stores in the Twin Cities area.

Unfortunately, it appears that all of the ovens have been turned off at the Wuollet Bakery.

During one of the closures, it was mentioned by the bakery that they are "restructuring to reorganize for a better future".  It was reported that the plan was to bring the bakery to Edina, where a rebirth will happen for this company.  If so, we will have that update on our free app.

According to Fox9.com, two other bakeries that do not have the Wuollet Bakery name, but are tied to this company, are still open.  You can find those at:

A Baker’s Wife: 4200 28th Ave S., Minneapolis, MN
Hans’ Bakery: 1423 5th Ave., Anoka, MN
