What To Know About The New Business Being Built On Central Entrance

If you've traveled along Central Entrance in Duluth recently, you've likely seen a new construction project getting underway at the intersection of Blackman Avenue and East Central Entrance.

Over the years, this lot across the highway from Pawn America has been home to businesses like Brakes Plus and Perrins Auto Sales & Service. After being vacant for a time after Perrins left, the building that was on the lot has been torn down to welcome the construction of a new business.

Here's what to know about the new business:

What business is moving in on this East Central Entrance lot?

While driving by, you might miss it, but a sign attached to the fence on the perimeter of the lot says "Coming Soon! Tumble Fresh Coin Laundry" while showing an image of an exterior of one of the company's laundromats along with an image of the interior of one of their other locations.

So, what is Tumble Fresh, and what makes it different from other Twin Ports area laundromats?

What is Tumble Fresh Coin Laundry?

The name gives away the basic premise behind this business. They're a coin-operated laundromat. Pretty obvious, right? Here's what else to know about them.

Tumble Fresh is a Twin Cities-based laundry business, currently operating 12 locations and expanding to three new locations outside of the Twin Cities/St. Cloud area.

Along with the new location on East Central Entrance in Duluth, Tumble Fresh is also opening a location at 1612 Belknap Street in Superior and a location in Fargo to bring their footprint to a total of 15 locations when all of these are open.

Tumble Fresh has earned several awards from Twin Cities media in recent years, including being named "Minnesota's Best Laundromat" by the Star Tribune in 2021.

Their website says all locations are open 7 days a week from 5 am to 1 am, including all holidays, offering extensive hours for people who want to use their machines.

They say that a few different sizes of washers and dryers are available at their locations, with prices starting at $3.75 for washes and $3.00 for drying, with prices going up from there for larger load sizes or cycle upgrades.

Tumble Fresh's website also says they offer a variety of laundry products like detergent if you forget yours at home or just want to purchase it at their location. These items are found in what they call their "Soap Center", which is located by the change machines with prices starting at $1.75 for products.

It isn't just laundry you can wash

Some of Tumble Fresh's locations also offer what they call "Pet Fresh Dog Wash" as well. Both the Duluth location on Central Entrance and the Superior location on Belknap Street will offer a dog wash.

What other amenities do they offer?

Besides regular and large capacity machines and the aforementioned soap center, Tumble Fresh locations also offer folding tables, vending machines for snacks and beverages, large-screen TVs and free internet access while you wait, as well as restrooms.

Is it just coin-operated machines?

The company also has a mobile app and accounts that allow customers to use and manage an electronic account.

Their app also displays available machines at their locations and provides coupons and rewards opportunities to get more bang for your buck if you use their services regularly.

When is Tumble Fresh opening?

As of the time of this article being published, construction is in its early phase. Only exterior framing is up for the Duluth location, with plenty of work to do yet. That said, we'll keep an eye on this as the project continues and keep you updated.
