The 2025 Duluth Polar Plunge is officially in the books! The event to raise money for Special Olympics of Minnesota was held on Saturday, February 15 with pre and post party festivities at The Garden in Canal Park and the plunge itself on Park Point in Duluth.
Unlike in some recent winters, ice conditions were great and plungers were able to jump into the Duluth Harbor through a hole in the ice. This is different than in some warmer years, where plungers have just had to run into the water from shore.
While it was a little breezy and chilly with temperatures around 20 degrees and wind chills in the single digits, that didn't stop hundreds of brave supporters from taking the plunge into the icy water!
The 2025 event had 679 registered plungers and while the final tally is being done, over $142,000 was raised by this year's Duluth event. That's an increase in both plungers and money when compared to last year's event.
Notable local figures who took the plunge included the Duluth Mayor, some Duluth Police and Fire Department members, a couple of Special Olympics athletes, local TV personalities like Dan Hanger, and numerous members of area businesses, organizations, and students at several area schools.

At the top of this page we have a recording of this year's live video stream so you can go back and relive the day. You'll also find a gallery of photos from the event as plungers took the dip into the harbor's waters.
