If you love a good Bloody Mary, bacon, and (or) Grandma's Marathon, this is the perfect event for you!

In what started as a trial event in 2022, Duluth's DECC event organizers are bringing back the successful "Bacon & Bloodies" event for Grandma's Marathon morning again in 2023.

The event itself is pretty simple, but there are some pretty incredible elements to it.

The first standout item to me is the view you get to enjoy as part of this event. It is being held on the "decks at the DECC", perched above Harbor Drive with stunning views of the harbor and the Aerial Lift Bridge. The views along with a cocktail and bacon are enough to make this event exciting by itself but add in the marathon, and it's next-level!

This event runs from 8:00 am to noon on Saturday, June 17, as finishers from the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and Grandma's Marathon make their way into Canal Park to complete their race to the finish line. You'll be able to watch the participants make their way along the final part of the course while cheering them on to give them the final lift they need to the finish line.

The event itself is free to attend, with a cash bar that will offer Bloody Marys, local beer, wine, and soft drinks for those in attendance. Bacon, as the name would suggest, is also one of the offerings.

While it is free to attend, do note that normal DECC parking rates will still apply. The DECC ramps are a destination for many that do park in the Canal Park area, so do consider other options in Canal Park or in Downtown Duluth as alternatives if you'd like other parking options.

Just show up by arriving through Entrance D or Entrance F between 8 am and noon, and have a good time cheering on the runners, VIP-style with a cocktail and bacon in hand!

Here's a look back at last year's Grandma's Marathon.
