Hayward KOA Is Saying Goodbye To Its Giant Waterslide

Every year, a group of our friends and their families go camping at the Hayward KOA. It's been a yearly tradition for over a decade. What we like about the Hayward KOA is all the fun stuff for the kids to do. They have the bouncing pad, mini golf, two playgrounds, a heated pool, and up until now, the giant 300-foot waterslide. This weekend, we learned that it's going away.

Don't get me wrong, we still had a fun weekend, and it's always worth the trip. I was just surprised to see the waterslide wasn't running. We asked about what was happening to it, and a campground host told us it is going to eventually be replaced by a splash pad.

Honestly, I think that's a great idea. It would give little kids (and big kids) a way to cool down. It would probably get more use than the waterslide, especially for younger families. It could also help clear up some space in the pool, which gets pretty full on busy Saturdays.

Another thing to note: the mini golfing was free because it's also being worked on. The arcade was also closed after a storm knocked it out a year ago.

We still had a great time at the Hayward KOA. We booked our sites again for next year, and I'll update you then on the progress made.
